Our brother, Mr. Lulseged Zedingel Hagos (Tesfay Chento), was born on March 22, 1960 to his father the Late Mr. Lulseged Zedingel and to his mother Mrs. Elfa (Letebrahan) Equbalidet. He was the first child to his parents and, as a child, under his parents’ guidance, he lead a peaceful and happy life.

He completed his elementary, middle, and high school in Ethiopia. Once he secured a scholarship to learn abroad, he went to Russia to pursue higher education.

After staying for a brief period of time in Russia, he came to America in 1990 after spending some time in Sudan. In America, due to his work ethic and the desire to improve his living standard, it did not take him long to fully participate in the workforce. Tesfay Chento was a hard worker who was keen to help and support his family in both Eritrea and Ethiopia. He was employed with the 5 Star and AMPCO until his untimely death; for the last 26 years. He was respected and loved by all of his employers and co-workers.

Tesfay Chento was an active member of the Eritrean community through his involvement in sports and other endeavors. He started playing soccer at an early age. He played as a midfielder and his talent and leadership qualities earned him the nickname Chento, after the professional Ethiopian national team player. His experience was instrumental in the creation, forging unity among players, and success of Team Asmara in Los Angeles.

Tesfay Chento met and married his soulmate Freweini Tesfay Kidane in 2003. Their first son, Senay, was born in 2003 and then they were blessed with their beautiful daughter, Simret in 2006. Both Tesfay Chento and Freweini dedicated their time and energy to provide an environment rich of education, religious guidance, and family values. In an effort to provide financial security for their children’s future and education, they took the challenge of owning a business.

Our beloved brother, Tesfay Chento, passed away on September 6, 2016 surrounded by his loving family and friends after battling illness. He is survived by his mother Elfa (Letebrahan); his beloved wife Freweini; his 13 year old son, Senay and his 9 year old daughter, Simret; his siblings; extended families; and friends that love and adore him.

Mr. Tesfay Chento was a brother and a friend to many, known for his love, kindness, hard work, family value, wisdom, and fear of God. He was a loyal husband and a dedicated father.
