Charles Edward Woods was born March 21, 1938, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to Earnest Christian Woods and Ruth Marie Woods. Charles was the 1st of 3 children born to this union.

Charles grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania attending McCaskey High School. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized. He attended Brightside Baptist Church in Lancaster, PA.

Charles joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950.  He was clear; he did not want the Army because âthey march too muchâ and not the Navy because he âcouldn\'t drink that much water.â Charles became a Communications Specialist while in the Air Force.

Charles traveled extensively throughout his service career. Charles was first stationed in  Riverside, New York; then he moved his family to Colorado, from there overseas to the Philippines, from there to Maine, after Maine, he moved his family back to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He was then sent to Vietnam, Korea, and Japan. Once again Charles received orders to relocate to California, first Northern California, then to Los Angeles and next to San Diego. His family remained in San Pedro, and that is where he retired.

Charles fathered two sons Gregory and Darryl Woods from his first marriage. He later met Betty Johnson through a neighbor; he became a stepfather to Falicia and Clifford Trippe. After 20 years of being together, Betty and Charles just recently married in September of 2014.

Charles was active in sports while in the Service; he played on both the softball and football teams and was also an excellent ping pong player and an avid bowler for over 50 years. Upon leaving the Service, Charles owned and operated a Payphone business and in his spare time he continued to travel.

Charles leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Betty Woods, sons Gregory Woods and Darryl Woods, his mother, Ruth Woods, stepchildren: Falicia and Clifford Trippe, grandchildren: Jourdain Woods, Tristan Woods and Jania Woods; great-granddaughter Jouri Woods, nephews: David Woods, Marcella Woods, Anthony Woods, Charles Woods,
Audriana Woods and Greg Feeland.
