Eugenia Anastascia Poydras was born July 20, 1949, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to the union of Matthew E. and Jeandean R. Poydras Jr. Being the second child of five with three sisters and one brother.

She received her formal education in Baton Rouge and graduated from Southern Laboratory High School Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1967; in that same year, Eugenia was crowned Miss Baton Rouge Louisiana. She continued her studies at Louisiana State University before departing to Los Angeles, California in 1969.


Upon arrival to Los Angeles, California she met Cleant Brown Jr., and they were joined in union on August 28, 1971. They were blessed with two daughters, Errica and Jacqueline which blessed them with four grandchildren. From then on Eugenia was now known as âGeGe.â GeGe truly enjoyed her grandchildren, which she bragged about to everyone she
met.

She enjoyed cooking her southern comfort food and was known for her fried chicken, potato salad, and Thanksgiving Day turkey. She enjoyed shopping and taking them to Costco every weekend. They would place whatever they wanted into the basket without her saying âNo.â

In 1969, Eugenia began her career in the retail industry with passion and love in customer service. She started at Bullock\'s Los Angeles, California and concluded with 25 years of service at Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills, California in 2017. She embraced her style, sweet southern hospitality, and her famous talented gift wrapping. Eugenia had clients all over the United States, developing long-term relationships with her customers. She was in demand at Neiman Marcus. You could catch Eugenia sitting on the beach reading a novel, smoking a cigarette, and drinking a coke while also engaging in conversations with coworkers.

Eugenia Brown departed this life on Thursday, April 11, 2019. She was preceded in death by her father Matthew Eugene Poydras Jr. and mother Jeandean Ruth Davis-Poydras.

She leaves to cherish her memory, husband Cleant Devola Brown Jr., two daughters Errica Renea, and Jacqueline Marina Brown, four grandchildren: Erric D. Wimberley, Jaylynn K. Smith, Eran D. Hall-Brown, and Zahara N. Johnson; three sisters: Anya Poydras-Crockett, Dianne Poydras-Richard (Joe) of Los Angeles, California, and Joandell Poydras-Turner (Donald) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; brother Matthew E. Poydras III (Shari) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
