In Loving Memory of Sam Welch, Jr.

November 2, 1933 - January 31, 2021

On November 2, 1933, in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, Sam Sr. and Ida Welch were blessed with a son, who they named Sam Welch Jr.

Sam completed his early education in Crystal Springs, Mississippi. He accepted Christ at an early age. While Sam was on his dying bed, he confessed that he was saved.

In the early 1950s, Sam met and married his wife, Georgia Welch. To this union, two children were born. Sam moved his family from Mississippi to Los Angeles, California, in the early 60s. Sam worked as a truck driver and a mechanic to support his family. He was loved by many and in 1995 his beautiful wife, Georgia Welch, was called home to be with the Lord; during that difficult time, Sam helped raise his grandchildren, who he loved dearly. Two of Sam's favorite hobbies were fixing cars and dressing sharp.

Sam's loved ones that preceded him in death were his wife Georgia Welch, his parents Sam and Ida Welch, two grandsons: Marshawn and Mark Burns Jr.; his seven sisters, and one brother.

Sam leaves to cherish his memories his son Melvin Jones Sr., and daughter LeeAnn Welch, his grandchildren: Tahmel (Dulce) Jones, Shameka (Jamal) McCoy, Sharonda and LaNesha Burns, Candis (Corlen) Slaughter, Melvin Jr., and Marlin Jones, and Esme Jones, a village of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Sam also leaves behind a very dear friend, Mary Clinton. Mary was not only a close friend to Sam, she was his caregiver. Sam always mentioned he had the best caregiver anyone could ask for. When Sam's health started to decline and he couldn't do anything for himself anymore, Mary, you stood tall, the bond shared with Sam was unbreakable, Sam and the family would like to say, "Thank You for all you have done."

Rest-in-Heaven Sam Welch, aka daddy and grandpa until we meet again!
